Lady Gaga - Born this way

Within a few years Lady Gaga has became a huge iconic figure, she has become infamous for her crazy videos and her extream outfits, she's the lastest fashion icon to hit hollywood and inspires millions. With each video telling a different story it was hard to choose one to analyse however i have chosen Lady Gaga's - Born this way. The reason i have chosen to analyse this music video is because it is one of her strongest narrative performances with her acting as well as narrating. As well as Lady Gaga acting the narrative she also provides performance shots with a variety of angles conforming to Goodwins Theory for example the title itself has the strongest relationship between the visuals with it being 'born this way' and the video mainly being shots of her 'giving birth' andd procreating/cloning herself. Lady gaga's narrative side of her music video has inspired me for my music video however our narrative will not be as wackey as hers due to the fact we have a minimalistic budget and it would not fit the genre of the music. When it comes to mise-en- scene lady gaga uses eyecatching backgrounds in most of her shots, and due to the crazy narrative and bright colours viewers are normally attracted to it, in this music video a contrast of bright colourful shots for the good side and dull grey colours for the evil side, this made me choose to film the flashbacks in black and white (to connote the bad times and the present time in colour yet edit the contrast to make it seem duller however the colour connotes that she is almost happy again
