Artist Research - Ok Go - Here it goes again

This music video by Ok Go is incredibly creative however it doesnt really folow Goodwins theory and it isnt exactly conventional when it comes to a music video, there are a few shots of the band however they are not playing any instruments, or singing, so the 'performance' shots are limited, you could even say there arent any,  there is also no narrative link to the lyrics, the artists simply dance on the treadmills to the beat of the track. Despite this i think that the music video is extreamly creative and the song is also an easy listening song(attracting more viewers). When it comes to talking about mise-en- scene there isnt much you can say about this music video apart from the fact the artists are dressed as 'typical' nerds despite the fact that they are doing something creative and artistic rather than scientific, however i think that the band generally dress in shirts and trousers to fit the genre they are aiming to fit in which is Indie Rock. The music video is slowly becoming more renowned with Big Brother contestants having to imitate Ok Go's performance for one of their tasks, and the power of hearsay of the sheer 'uniqueness' of the video it self. The video is extreamly interesting, you dont want to stop watching it incase they pull out another trick or movement, because of this i dont think it matters that the music video isnt conventional as it is still popular with the public who prefer different genre's also enjoying it. The video has over ten million views on Youtube alone, showing that conventional music videos arent always the best idea.

  1. Good focus on the application of Goodwin's Theory. To develop this further are there any aspects you will use in your work. If not, why not?
